This summer one of our amazing undergraduate students, Samantha Cheng, won a Harry Smith summer studentship award to study effects of phytochemicals on Acinetobacter baumannii's antibiotic resistance! We are very proud and excited to see the results!
Our PhD students, Evgenia and Kavita, attended their first in person conference this year. And what a day it was! McCarthy lab took home 4 awards across different nominations! Huge congratulations and good job to you guys!

Dr Ronan McCarthy is giving a talk in Polymicrobial Infections Session on endolysins interactions with bacterial vaginosis-associated biofilms. Very interesting work and we are looking forward to hearing all about it!
Catch it on 7th of April 2022 at 14:45-15:00. Our amazing 2nd year PhD student, Kavita, made it to the finals of 3 Minute Thesis competition at Brunel University! Her fabulous project "Antibiotics are Going VEGAN" focuses on plant-based compounds as potential alternatives for traditional antibiotics. Great work and well done!
All of our fantastic postdocs, Sophie, Chris and Ruben, have completed Resilient Leaders Elements course "Leadership in Action"! We are proud of them and are looking forward to their future endeavours.
